How I start my mornings.

So I was reading Shannon's post over on luvinthemommyhood yesterday and thought I'd join in.  She's having a whole tea cup month and while I love a good cup of tea (especially if that tea is Constant Comment with vanilla sugar) my mornings start off with a cup of coffee.

I always begin with the cup...nice and clean and my favorite one is this:

I love this mug as my bestie Terri gave it to me as a gift.  Next in line of my reason's it's my favorite is that the pattern is a cable stitch...for those who knit it is just flippin' awesome!  I also love the mug because it is the perfect size for me, not too much that I'm drinking my coffee all day and not to small that I have to have 7 cups to satisfy me.

Okay, so the next comes the coffee:

I know in my last post I said my favorite coffee is the French Vanilla, but original blend is what I have and I like it too.  French Vanilla is still my fave  I just like to shake things up a bit.

Since I'm the only coffee drinker in the house (though I'm sure the boys would love it if I let them have coffee).  I have a one-cup filter for making coffee.  I really love it as I don't feel wasteful by having a coffee pot and if Husband wants to have a cup of tea in the morning or if the kiddos want instant oatmeal the water is all ready to go.

So my coffee cup is all ready to go, all that I need is a little bit of boiling water to brew.  For Christmas I got this:

The best gift EVAH!  I love it!  I don't have to fumble with the tea kettle on the stove, it turns off automatically and is much easier to clean than my tea kettle.  I keep meaning to knit a cozy to cover it so it will stay warm longer...but with 5 kids certain things just don't make it on the to-do list :)

As you can see the front is a little dirty (should have wiped it down before taking a pic) but it is well loved.  It does have a base that it sits on which plugs into the wall and that is how it heats up.  Super easy!  Super fast!

Okay so once the water has filter through the grounds here comes the best part:

Oh yeah baby!  Hot chocolate mix to turn my coffee into a poor man's mocha!  While it won't beat Starbucks in a taste test it certainly is good for the budget ;)

All that's left is to stir in and enjoy!

The best mornings are the ones when I get to drink this whole cup in one long, luxurious sitting.  Though as you can imagine that doesn't happen often with 5 kiddos and a Husband!

So go fix yourself your favorite warm morning drink and check out luvinthemommyhood's tea cup month.  I know I am.

Personally, it is my favorite way to drink coffee because I am ultimately in complete control over how strong each cup of coffee is. Great for entertaining...though I just found out you can get lots of different styles too...ceramic and the like :)
